What are Polymerized Vegetable Oils?

Polymerized vegetable oil are heat treated vegetable oils like soyabean or linseed in which the viscosity of the oil is dramatically increased. The resulting product is more popularly known as stand oil or heat bodied oil.

What are the uses of Polymerized Vegetable Oils?

Polymerized Vegetable oils are used as additive in solvent based quick drying enamel to enhance the paint's brushability properties. These type of oils are also used as a vehicle or binder for most oleoresinous varnishes.

Blown linseed oil is usually used as:

- a wood preservative
- an agent to protect iron from rust even if it is somewhat rusty
- as an anti-rust-agent in primer paint applied lavishly with a brush
- as plasticizer for lacquers
